As well as being the first and most important stop on an Elvis holiday, Memphis claims to be the musical capital of the world. This could well be true as Memphis claims to be the ‘Home of the Blues’ and the ‘Birthplace of Rock and Roll’. Memphis encourages you to cut your own record at the world famous Sun studios, but this does not guarantee you an audition on the X-Factor!
Memphis is a great destination for a few days as a single centre, or incorporated into a music multi-centre holiday or an Elvis holiday. An Elvis Holiday must include a visit to Graceland with a friendly guided tour, preferably staying at the Heartbreak Hotel where you mix with enthusiastic Elvis fans both visitors and staff. A tour to Tupelo is strongly recommended where you can visit where Elvis was born, went to school, lived his early life, and the newly renovated Elvis museum. Memphis is a very popular stop off point for a lot of people on a fly drive through the Deep South.
Our most popular Memphis two centre holidays add on Las Vegas, Nashville or New Orleans. Whilst our Music Multicentre holidays include all of them!
For those with more time or looking for a holiday of a lifetime, Memphis, Las Vegas and Hawaii is a popular Memphis Multicentre holiday.
If Rock ‘n’ Roll is your thing, then what are you waiting for? With so many great music bars to choose from including the great B.B. Kings, there is no excuse for not having a great time.
Rock on down to Graceland, the former home to Elvis ‘The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’, and with over 700.000 visitors a year, it is second only to the White House for visits. You can stay at the Heartbreak hotel, take a tour around the mansion and also see Elvis’s car collection and his private planes. We can also give you the opportunity of a private tour to Tupelo or have an Elvis themed wedding or vow renewal ceremony.
Another superb tour is to the Sun Studios, where it all started. You can see where Elvis, BB King and Jerry Lee Lewis recorded their first records, still preserved in it’s original 1950’s condition it offers you the chance to murder a song and preserve it on vinyl.
Memphis isn’t just a Rock ‘n’ Roll town, it is steeped in the history of the Deep South . One museum that shouldn’t be missed is the Civil Rights Museum which is built on the site where Martin Luther King was assassinated in 1968.
If you fancy tasting some excellent southern cuisine then you will be spoilt for choice in the downtown area. Some argue that the ribs at the famous Rendezvous restaurant are the best in the world.
In the evenings Memphis celebrates it’s musical heritage in the many bars, clubs and restaurants around town. The perfect way to end a perfect day.
